World Energy Congress

The World Energy Congress is the only global congress that covers the entire energy spectrum. With over 150 countries represented, it is the world’s largest and most influential energy event covering all aspects of the energy agenda. Running since 1924, the triennial World Energy Congress enables dialogue amongst Ministers, CEOs, policy-makers and industry practitioners on critical developments in the energy sector. As the world’s premier energy gathering, the Congress offers a unique opportunity for participants to better understand energy issues and solutions from a global perspective.
Over the 90-year history of the World Energy Council, the Congress has been staged in over 20 cities across the world and the 24th World Energy Congress will take place in Abu Dhabi at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, United Arab Emirates from 9-12 September 2019.
GBBC CEO, Sandra Ro will be speaking on “Getting to Grips with Blockchain: Cutting Through the Hype” a panel discussion exploring blockchain technology’s potential to transform energy systems by lowering transactions costs among small players and devices and enabling the internet of things in energy. The panel will explore the opportunities and risks of implementing blockchain-based solutions in the energy sector, the latest use cases and pilots, as well as regulatory obstacles associated with the implementation of blockchain applications in the energy sector.
