The Stellar Development Foundation presents on “Open Networks: Connecting Global Financial Infrastructures”
Join us on the GBBC Virtual Members Forum with Justin Rice, Head of Ecosystems at Stellar Development Foundation, and Lauren Thorbjornsen, Head of Communications at Stellar Development Foundation, to learn more about how Stellar is connecting global financial infrastructure to create equitable access to the global financial system for individuals everywhere.
Justin Rice is the Head of Ecosystem at the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF), a non-profit organization that supports the development and growth of Stellar, an open-source network that connects the world’s financial infrastructure. In this role, he speaks on behalf of developers building on the Stellar network and coordinates the members of the Stellar ecosystem, with the ultimate focus on growth and development of that system. Justin became familiar with the Stellar technology and its benefits during his time working in product development. In that role, he helped build an exchange, called StellarX, which utilizes the Stellar open-source technology. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Comparative Literature from Harvard University.
Lauren Thorbjornsen is the Head of Communications at the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF), a non-profit organization that supports the development and growth of Stellar, an open-source network that connects the world’s financial infrastructure. She is responsible for SDF’s communications and public relations activities, building Stellar’s reputation as the blockchain that people know and trust. She started her career in political campaigns, which led her to the White House communications team under President Obama. She went on to work internationally at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on a range of policy issues like migration, education, and economic development. Before joining Stellar, she led partner communications at Salesforce, helping tell the story of the ecosystem of businesses that build and implement on the platform. She holds a master’s degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
