GBBC University Dialogues on Blockchain & Digital Assets

The GBBC is pleased to partner with the Miami University Blockchain Club (MUBC), based out of the Miami University in Oxford, Ohio on the inaugural session of GBBC’s “University Dialogues” focused on the blockchain technology space, particularly digital asset and enterprise blockchain solutions. The session will be organized as a roundtable and audience Q&A led by GBBC CEO Sandra Ro and leaders from Accenture, Stellar Development Foundation, and Nautilus Tech.

GBBC’s “University Dialogues” are designed to build bridges between students and innovative companies and leaders in the blockchain technology space to foment blockchain understanding and skills at academic institutions around the world.

Speaker Bios:

Bea O’Carroll is the CEO of NautilusTech, a boutique OTC desk for high net worth individuals and corporate entities interested in trading digital currencies. She jumped into bitcoin & crypto in 2015, most recently working at Circle and itBit was a co-founder of Reciprocity Trading. Prior to this she spent 15 years on Wall Street and was fortunate enough to have worked in London, Singapore and Dublin in addition to New York. Bea holds a BA from St. John’s University and is an active volunteer with Hour Children, an organization based in Queens that helps incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their children successfully rejoin the community.

Justin Rice is the VP of Ecosystem at the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF), a non-profit organization that supports the development and growth of Stellar, an open-source network that connects the world’s financial infrastructure. In this role, he speaks on behalf of developers building on the Stellar network and coordinates the members of the Stellar ecosystem, with the ultimate focus on growth and development of that system. Justin became familiar with the Stellar technology and its benefits during his time working in product development. In that role, he helped build an exchange, called StellarX, which utilizes the Stellar open-source technology. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Comparative Literature from Harvard University.

Tanya Shastri is VP of Products, Blockchain at VMware where she leads product management and go-to-market for the Blockchain Business Unit. Prior to this, Tanya was at Google where she headed Strategic Business Development for Google Cloud technology partnerships. Tanya co-founded Natero (acquired by Freshworks), a SaaS big data analytics platform. Earlier she worked to productize innovative technology in the CTO’s office at NetApp, and started her career at Cisco where she held several roles in product management and software engineering. Tanya holds an MBA from Haas, UC Berkeley and an MS in Electrical Engineering from SUNY, Stony Brook, NY.

David Treat is a Senior Managing Director, Global Lead of Accenture’s Blockchain Business, Global Capital Markets Technology Lead, and Accenture Lead of the NY Fintech Innovation Lab. He has over 20 years of experience in Financial Services split between consulting and industry roles spanning Capital Markets and Banking. Over the past several years, Dave has driven the formation of Accenture’s Blockchain Business globally. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Linux Hyperledger Project, Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, Global Blockchain Business Council and the ID2020 Alliance, Project Director for the Digital Dollar Project, is a member of the World Economic Forum C4IR Global Blockchain Council and is a program advisor for the Chamber of Digital Commerce. David is Accenture’s lead for the New York Fintech Innovation Lab which is co-run by Accenture and the Partnership Fund for New York City.

About the Miami University Blockchain Club:

MUBC serves to educate students and campus leaders on blockchain technology. The organization also encourages members to develop valuable connections in the blockchain space by pursuing educational opportunities in blockchain and related fields, as well as internship and career opportunities.
