Marta F. Belcher is an attorney at Ropes & Gray and a leader in the area of blockchain law. Marta serves as outside general counsel for Protocol Labs, serves as special counsel to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and serves as Chair of the Filecoin Foundation as well as the Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web.
Marta represents the Blockchain Association as well as other companies, industry associations, and civil liberties organizations in matters related to blockchain and public policy. Marta has been recognized twice by the Financial Times Innovative Lawyer awards and was named to Law360’s list of Rising Stars in FinTech.
Marta has spoken about blockchain law around the world, including testifying in the New York Senate and speaking in U.S. Congress, European Parliament, the OECD, and in Davos during the World Economic Forum. Marta has drafted amicus briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and U.S. appellate courts for high-profile public interest organizations, including EFF, the Center for Democracy & Technology, Public Knowledge, the Cato Institute, the National Consumers’ League, Project Gutenberg, and the Blockchain Association.
