In this GBBC Virtual Members Forum, Genesis Chief Operating Officer Dr. Derar Islim will provide an in-depth overview of Genesis’ prime brokerage offering, which integrates trading, lending, borrowing, derivatives and custody service to create a single point of access to digital asset markets.

Dr. Derar Islim is Chief Operating Officer at Genesis, responsible for managing strategic initiatives, integrating trading and financial services, coordinating operations, and executing on the Genesis vision globally. Dr. Islim’s areas of expertise include crypto treasury management, fixed income trading, capital markets funding, and quantitative modeling. Prior to Genesis, Dr. Islim worked at Hard Yaka, an SF-based venture capital firm where he established systemic crypto liquidity management and hedging programs to fund VC operations – including hedging over 95% of illiquid term structured crypto exposure and increasing company yield over 25%. Previously, he spent 5 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch co-managing the FVA trading desk and leading initiatives to solidify and hedge complex portfolio risk. Dr. Islim has a PhD. in Financial Mathematics from Florida State University and a B.Eng. degree in Informatics from Aleppo University. He is a Fulbright scholar and holds FINRA 7 and 63 licenses.
